C$800.00Price
  • 1. Term of Agreement.

1.1. The Agreement shall commence with the date of Animal purchase and shall be valid for 14 consecutive months from that date, or until the animal is butchered.

1.2. The Owner may terminate the agreement at any time under the condition that they find a replacement owner to take over their ownership share in the Animal and their commitment to the remainder of the Agreement, and provided that the terminating party is solely responsible for collecting any fees associated with the Animal from the replacement owner.  In this case the Farmers will accommodate the process of entering a new agreement with the new owner.

1.3. A certificate of ownership will be provided to the Owner, and the names of any additional co-owners and their portions owned.

    2. Gaurantee

2.1 Farmer will be responsible for replacing the Animal in the unlikely event of death or loss during the term of this Agreement.

2.2 During the term of the Agreement, the Farmers guarantees that the Animal will remain on track with weight gain such that the Owner will be able to realize a yield of beef cuts from the Animal within the targeted range of 320 to 400 lbs per whole Animal share (or higher).

    RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    3. Owner’s Responsibilities. Owner shall:

3.1. Pay to the Farmers the one time Animal Purchasing Fee and monthly Animal Farming Fees in accordance with Section 2.

3.2. Allow the Animal to be farmed under Farmer’s chosen practices, including but not limited to those set forth in Section 8.

3.3 Be responsible for the cost of the Animal slaughter, and butchering (cutting and wrapping) at the end of the farming period, including possible transportation costs.

3.4 Be responsible for arranging an acceptable meat pick-up appointment where they will take possession of their cut and wrapped beef.

    4. Owner’s Rights.

4.1. Owner will be invited to visit the farm and their Animal at no less than 4 pre-set dates determined by the Farmers (one in each season) to see the Animal and learn more about how the Animal is cared for and how they live.

4.2 Owner will be given the opportunity to provide custom cutting and wrapping instructions to the person or business entrusted to provide butchering services.

    5. Farmer’s Responsibilities. Farmer agrees to perform the following with respect to the Animal:

5.1. Manage, care, and feed the Animal with complete adherence to all aspects of Animal welfare and best practices as are understood for free-range, pasture-based production systems.

5.2. Determining best date for and facilitating appointment arrangements for Animal slaughter and processing.

    6. Livestock Management and Farmers Rights.

All livestock management decisions are at the sole discretion of the Farmers.

6.1. By default, all beef cattle under the Farmer’s care are 100% grass fed and stock will not be provided with any feeds or supplements except for pasture, dry hay and or haylage (slightly fermented hay), free-choice cafeteria-style mineral, and salt. In the event that additional nutrition is required to maintain appropriate animal gains for the Owner during hay feeding seasons, a maximum of 2 lbs of oats may be included per animal per day as a supplement.

6.2. Free access to indoor shelter with dry straw bedding will be provided during winter.

    7. Animal Slaughtering and Processing.

7.1 The choice of Abattoir and meat processor to be used for the purposes of slaughtering and processing the Owner’s animal is not determined by this Agreement, but rather will be the choice of the Owner at any time prior to slaughter.

7.2 Well in advance of the Animal harvest time, The Farmer’s will provide one or more suggested available and recommended options for Abattoir and processor, providing adequate booking time which may be weeks or months in advance.

7.3 The Farmer’s will assist the Owner to the extent required to ensure a successful harvest experience, including but not limited to negotiating a booking for harvest and processing, helping the Owner adequately understand how to navigate custom beef cutting decisions, and assisting with animal transportation booking if required.

7.4 Any prices listed as part of this program are only estimates of current year 2024 prices for actual abattoirs and meat processors most local to the Farmers.  They are not necessarily Provincially or Federally Inspected or “licensed”, but they are reputable operations providing legal, safe, and ethical services for killing and processing livestock for the purposes of “not for resale”, family consumption.   In the event the Owner wishes to legally sell for money any cuts of the future beef derived from their Animal, their Animal will have to be killed and cut at a Provincially Inspected Abattoir and licensed meat processor, which may or may not cost considerably more than our listed estimates.

    8. Relationship of the Parties.

The Farmers are independent contractors with Owner. Owner has no right to control, direct or supervise the Farmers in carrying out their duties. It is agreed that neither party is the legal representative or the agent of the other party for any purpose whatsoever, and has no authority to assume or create obligations on behalf of the other party. This Agreement shall not be deemed to give rise to a partnership or joint venture.

    9. Waiver.

Failure of either party to assert or enforce at any time any of the provisions of this Agreement, or to exercise any right herein provided, shall in no way be deemed to be a waiver of such provision or right by the other party. No waiver shall be valid unless in a writing signed by Owner and Farmer.
