Free-Range Pork
What customers are saying about Wild
Mountain Farm's Pasture-Raised Pork
"Wow! I didn't know pork chops could taste so good till
now. The chops I bought were great. I think I could taste
the apples, or was that the clovers? Next up for Sunday
morning--the bacon!"
D. Dodwell, Canning
"I didn't like pork much till I tried yours. Now I like it as
much as beef and lamb. I have to order me a side of
that North Mountain yummyness!"
D. Kehler, Halifax"
Unlike cattle and sheep, pigs are not ruminants.
Their stomach design is meant to digest a great
diversity of foods, including grains, pastures, and
just about everything their curiosity and snuffers
bring them to.
Our goal when raising pigs is to create the
opportunity for them to fully express their instincts
by offering them a free-range home with lots of
pasture and forest. They find much of their food this
way, and we supplement the rest by offering them
locally grown grains and apple pommace. The result
is fully flavoured pasture-raised pork--the most
distinctive and delicious pork we've ever tasted.
We raise a limited number of pigs each year based
on interest expressed in the spring during our CSA
sign up. To ensure your supply, try to get your order
in before June.
